Santa Fe Station Casino
MHello,
Had the pleasure of catching your live act and was very amazed at the guitar work. I was very pleased to see how he is keeping the style alive and bringing it out to Las Vegas.
These are photos i took at the Chrome Lounge @ the Santa Fe Station in Las Vegas NV.
I hope you can share this with other fans and hopefully people will take time out to catch him live.
Thank you

Fan since 1972
My name is ....., and I have every regular issue CD & or album & whatever else I could get my hands on. I have met Kim several times. He is a perfect gentleman & treats his fans well. I saw Savoy Brown last at Moes Alley in Santa Cruz California. In my opinion , by far the greatest blues guitarist I've heard. I am also a guitar player as is most of the country , but I do know great players. I always push people who have not been enlightened to buy all they can from the Savoy collection. Thanks to the band and over 35 years of personal enjoyment for me (I am now 52).

The new album is fantastic. Looking forward to the shows in the Chicagoland area this spring and summer.

Just wanted to drop a note to say that after 40 years of being a fan I finally got to see Savoy Brown live. It was well worth the wait. They played for 2 1/2 hours and were on the top of their game. Kim was fantastic. We just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the show. In this day and age when good music is very hard to find Kim and the band have restored my faith. As long as I can go to a small club and see a band of the quality of Savoy Brown my life will have balance.
Thanks again,
Keep playin the blues,
-A. M.

Just received the new CD-Steel. This is the best SAVOY BROWN CD in years. Great playing Kim and company. Guitar tones drip with inspiration. Great sound, can't wait to hear Savoy Brown in person. Cool t-shirt too. Thanks for keeping the blues alive. I've been a fan since the 70's and play guitar myself. Kim has been an inspiration from the start.

Greetings all!
I would like to thanks the members of Savoy Brown for coming to Hamilton for their very first time. Usually we make the 30 mile trip to Toronto every year to see them. We never miss a show even if we have to cancel going to work, he he! The band rocked the venue (Absinthe) until the wee hours with standing ovations that were regular throughout their performance. Kim's guitar playing goes beyond impressive year by year and as I have said to many he is "The only guitar player that can make the instrument sing!" This three piece formation is the best yet featuring thundering bass player Gerry Sorrentino along with the powerhouse drummer Mario Staiano. The band was kind enough to come out during their breaks and after the performance to sign CDs and have their pictures taken with fans. This was the first night they offered their new CD "Steel" for sale and from what I saw I suspect there were not many left for their following night in Toronto. The new release is SUPERB and has been loaded as repeat in my player for continual enjoyment. Many thanks to the Absinthe & the promoter Lou for bringing this incredible band to our city. Waiting for the next "Hellbound Train" into town, ticket in my hand.

Bull Ren 12/2/06
Last night I attended my first Savoy Brown live performance at Bull Run in Shirley, MA, upon the recommendation of a good friend who also attended. It was a packed house and I have to say I was totally thrilled with the music and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Our party of four were up way past our bedtimes (class of '65 vintage), but it was well worth it. Awesomely soul-scorching, and by the way, Happy Birthday, Kim, and rock on. Thank you, thank you, and thank you for a wonderful experience. I wanted to get up and boogie sideways across the stage, but managed to control myself, just barely.
-S
P.S. We loved your stories, and look forward to more, and more of your music.
Silver Dollar December 09/06
I talked a friend at work to come with me to see Savoy Brown at the Silver Dollar after working a 12 hour shift. I had bought an LP years ago at a second hand shop, (mostly because I liked the cover,) called Hellbound Train. My musical tastes back then were strictly rock n roll, and not until my later years, could I or did I appreciate how the only true music is the Blues out of which rock n roll was spawned. I watched and grooved
to a band headed by an amazing guitarist whipping his flying Vee. Kim Simmonds is truly an awe inspiring talent, blasting his blues with rock n roll in perfect harmony. I can not wait until they return again next year. Oh, and buy his new CD - just another notch in the belt I'm sure, but destined to be a classic.
Keep it alive Kim!

I attended my first ever Savoy Brown concert last Friday night 10/13/06. It will not be my last. I gotta tell you I was quite impressed. I really enjoyed the show and meeting the band. It is so rare to be able to actually talk to artists these days. Kim Simmonds is a very entertaining and talented musician. He and I had a laugh when I remarked to him about the John Denver comment he made. "I look like John Denver when I put on my reading glasses" I told him that coincidentally, the day before was the 9th anniversary of Denver's death. I also told him that John Denver was the loudest concert I ever went to, with ridiculous volume and distortion that forced me to put toilet paper in my ears. They just pushed the underpowered PA too much and it was bad. Actually painful. I have seen hundreds of concerts with bands like Metallica/Ozzy/Kiss/Motley Crue/the Clash and Sabbath to name a few. They all sounded great but not John Denver! Ha! We chuckled like old buddies.
I really enjoyed the new music they played from the upcoming cd. Really liked the song where Kim played a little wah-wah. I will be buying it when it comes out. During the show, they were playing a smokin' song called 'Savoy Brown Boogie' and Kim mentioned the blues great John Lee Hooker. I thought you folks would enjoy a couple of photos I took of JLH a long time ago. I don't know the exact date, but these shots were taken sometime in 1972 at a place called the Crystal Lake Ballroom in Ellington, CT. Feel free to put them up on your site if you want. See you all in Ridgefield, CT next year.

Magic Bag 9/8/06
Just want to touch base with you on the M.B. show last Friday. The boys were SMOKIN!!!! Best show I have seen them do yet. The crowd was really into it all night long. Kim, Jerry and Mario were at their best and even stayed after the show to chat and sign autographs as they always do, we really appreciate that. Thanks for coming to Detroit and we will be watching the website for the next show in or around our area.
Best regards to all,

Luxello Hall in Luxello TX - 2006
IF YOU MISSED THIS EVENT, YOU MISSED the MOST OUTSTANDING and AMAZING SHOW of the YEAR... SAVOY BROWN was PHENOMINAL! Kim Simmonds, Gerry Sorrentino & Mario Staiano delivered an unforgettable show for two solid hours... and then rocked-out a 30-minute encore! Immediately following the show, all of them autographed absolutely everything that every fan requested... from memorabilia to CD's to posters.
They expressed their sincere & special thanks to Luxello Hall for hosting such a well-run event, Meister & Meister and Band on the Fly for their opening show that created such a perfect mood, and the entire audience for making it such an enjoyable performance... one of their very best!

Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds - June 22, 2006
The Thirsty Ear Tavern
Columbus, Ohio
* * * * 1/2
I've seen Savoy Brown three times now beginning in 2004 in Santa Cruz, California and twice at the Thirsty Ear here in Columbus. The biggest differences this time were that the tavern has changed hands. It is not quite the "club" it used to be. By that I mean the place has more of a bar feel no "seating" people as they come in like before. But much of the staff is the same and the holdover is a real plus because the bar staff, etc. are very, very good. And how many bars can you say that about? The Thirsty Ear Tavern is still arguably the best small venue in the city.
Savoy Brown themselves performed as a trio at this gig. Initially way back in ‚65 the group was five. The times I had heard them previously the lineup included another guitarist besides Mr. Simmonds. This sparseness might be a drawback for most musical outfits. But Simmonds is such a diversely tasteful player that he can fill the spaces without the music diminishing into cluttered rock power trio noise. Far from it. Drawing from the respective wells of blues, rock, and jazz Simmonds can literally play solos for hours without sounding the least bit redundant. Of course all three genres from which he draws inspiration have had their super trios. Most notably was rock‚s Cream which surfaced in Britain much the same time as Savoy Brown, Fleetwood Mac ,et al. While Mac went on to monster popularity as a pop group when Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined, Mr. Simmonds weathered the storms of shuffling lineups and soldiered on carrying the blues torch. And it‚s always a pleasure to listen to him play. His purity his focus becomes atmospheric.
Scorching through sturdy material like "Louisiana Blues," "Tell Mama", "Poor Girl" and the traditional "Wang Dang Doodle" Simmonds became one with his Flying V, leading the rhythm section to blues nirvana without breaking a sweat. And his slide work oozed out of what he affectionately referred to as his Lez Paul. For two hour long sets this intimate club buzzed with the joy only a great blues band with a dynamic guitarist can cook up. When one revels in the blues one forgets one‚s blues. And Savoy Brown is an elixir I will gladly drink whenever available.
After closing with signature tune "Hellbound Train" the crowd rose in unison and demanded more and being the cherubic gnome as guy next door that he is, Kim Simmonds led the band back out to play again for his friends. It was obvious Savoy Brown was charging into their fifth decade. And they were inviting us all along for the ride.

I just saw Savoy Brown in Tucson a few days ago. These guys were a shot in the arm, kicked it up all night long. More Savoy Brown, anytime... esp Hellbound Train!
Mammoth Lakes, CA - August 4,5 2005
Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza
Kim Simmonds & Savoy Brown was great to see again; I hadn't since back when I thought they were great rock artists. Who said Brits don't have a sense of humor? Can't prove that theory by him. Like royalty, Kim still rules the stage with hard-rocking blues.

"At 3:00 PM, Savoy Brown took the stage. We went over to watch and were actually swept off our feet at the music we heard coming out of the speakers.............The band was a three piece for this show............................... They were very impressive...............They ended their show with the incredible Hellbound Train. Savoy Brown also debuted some new material as well. As a three-piece band, Kim is forced to have his guitar up front and center at all times. The result is a very Hendrix/Robin Trower feel. The bands new material is as strong as any of the oldies that they played. "
Surf Ballroom July 15th 2005
Ive always enjoyed the tone that you get out of the Flying V and last night showed that you still retain that to great effect. Your mastery of the blues guitar was very evident. I try to play the blues myself and am obviously still on square one. Phrasing, note selection, tone, you have the whole package. Wow!! Id be remiss not to mention your bandmates. Groups are crap without a good drummer and Dennis is ace. Gerry made the music interesting without being intrusive a perfect bass player.

New Jersey, July 9th 2005
"........................I see the band at least twice yearly when they play in the New York, New Jersey or eastern Pennsylvania vicinity and this, too, was an incredible show. The new "power trio" format sounds as if it will have unlimited potential. "New fans", aged 18-75, left our home that night and long-term fans, never previously attending a live show, were blown away by the two sets................ We were all privileged to hear at least 5 of the new songs and it's a unanimous decision among the long-term fans in attendance that the next record will be outstanding if these are included. We heard a mix of some slow blues, some great slide work and good old rock and roll."

Bodles Opera House January 18th 2002
I heard your show at Bodles last Friday evening (1/18). I talked with you briefly at the end before my brother and I left.
I heard you/Savoy three times in the late sixties/early seventies. I had some incredible dancing and listening experiences during your shows at that time, but I also remember drinking quite a bit at that time of my life. I did not come to Bodles with much expectation about the music/blues/rock quality and enjoyment I would experience. I have had the thought recently that I need to listen to people who were not playing 20/30/more years ago to find some vigor and energy within the music.
I was completely enthralled by the music you and your band members played. I sat in the front row in a chair, wished I could of gotten out of the chair and moved to the music (as people used to do), had to be satisfied moving in the chair, and found myself lost in your blues and rock. I closed my eyes and became lost. You were truly amazing. The clarity, the gut wrenching energy.
You mentioned the name of the other guiter player, but I forgot his name. He was also a master guitar player. Truly gifted. A joy to behold.
I am grateful for the experience. I thank you and your band members. I hope to see you all again in the not too distant future. You have remained true to the music.

Sunday, January 13, 2002, The Turning Point
I just wanted to write you guys and tell you once again how absolutely fantastic the concert tonight was. This was my third Savoy Brown show, (not bad for only 19 years old!!) and already you guys are absolutely one of my very favorite bands in the world. My best friend, Scott Arfin, had never seen you guys in concert before so when I asked him to join me he jumped at the opportunity. Needless to say, he spent the whole show with his jaw on the table because the brilliance of the playing touched him so deeply. Every single song was played with so much energy, ferocity, and most of all instrumental prowess! Most of all, the dynamic between Kim and Dave is absolutely fantastic and their solo turns are equally thrilling. But every single member of this band is incredible and of course Kim keeps the whole thing together with his brilliant guitar solos and soulful vocals. Kim Simmonds simply is the greatest guitar player that I have ever heard, and whether he is playing slide, acoustic, or just straight electric, it is always an awe-inspiring experience. You guys have definitely made a
life-long fan and I avidly look forward to seeing as many more Savoy Brown concerts
as possible! I also can't wait to hear the new record, the new songs that I
have heard are very powerful and melodic and I'm excited to hear the whole
thing!
Hope to see you guys very soon,
-Andrew
August 31 World Trade Center Summer Concert Series
Memories of the World Trade Center show
As someone who attended most shows that were part of the World TradeCenters concert series this summer, I can honestly say that the Savoy Brown show on August 31st was the highlight of the entire series. For me, the excitement was completely unexpected. I was immediately surprised by the amount of sheer energy that the band produced during their 2 sets. The roots music had a quality and integrity to it that just blew me away. David Malachowski's style is an incredible asset that contrasts nicely with Kim's sound. Just when I was getting nervous about my extended lunch break , I looked over to see my boss getting into the music also.
Savoy Brown was the last band to play in the concert series and, although we didn't know it at the time, the last band to play at the Trade Center Plaza as we knew it.
After the show, as my wife, son and myself drove north the West Side Highway, we saw a foreboding thunder and lightning storm moving towards the city to end the summer. The Fall was on us quicker then I anticipated.
On September 11th, I watched in shock from my office building from a few blocks away as the Twin Towers burned and collapsed. At lunch time today, I walked over to Broadway and Liberty Street and stood at the police barricades. Where the towers and plaza teeming with life and music once stood, there was only massive wreckage and the somber thought that thousands still lay underneath. For us that remain, life must go on, even as I find myself becoming nostalgic for events that happened only a few weeks ago.
Savoy Brown's World Trade Center performance was a testament to the positive power that is generated when great live music is performed for receptive audiences in an open society. When a band is able to make a connection with listeners through the magic of music, people should remember that these moments make life worth living. For me and many others who were there on August 31st, the band's performance is one of the last happy memories of a place that no longer exists, and can never be the same. However, the positive energy of the music remains in our hearts, and these musical memories can help in the healing process.
I was happy to see that the band is doing a benefit, and I look forward to seeing Savoy Brown again when they return to the New York City area.
Great website.
Thanks
-Mike
August 19 concert at Minneapolis Zoo:
Sunday night at the zoo was more than I expected.
I had been to the last three shows you've done in the Twin Cities, twice at the Blues Saloon ( it's now
a Lesbian bar, I'll never get lucky there again) and last year at the Taste Of Minnesota. I was expecting to see the same band that I had enjoyed these past few visits. I never minded not hearing "all the hits" as what you had been playing was such a high quality of real blues, not Stevie Ray Clone stuff. That said, I did get such a spiritual lift off the show you guys did at the zoo. It's always been a pleasure to see you do what you do on stage. It's what I do in my dreams, as I can't play a note to save my life. I felt so sorry for the tasteful Mr. Taylor, having to follow you guys. This is a great band you've put together, each of them shine. I could go on, but I'll just say thanks again, and I look forward
to the next time you're in town. Thanks for working so hard.
-Mike
To the Band Members:
I attended your show at the Minnesota Zoo yesterday. I just want to thank you for a wonderful concert. I only wish you could have played longer. This show was especially important to me because my brother was killed in a car accident two months ago. You had been his favorite band forever. I'm sure he was listening to a Savoy Brown CD when he left this earth! Paul was going to visit me (my family live in Michigan) and attend your concert with me. Unfortunately not. I took a friend instead, who is now an unlikely fan! Anyway, the reason for my email is to simply thank you. Your music has given us comfort. I hope you return for more concerts.
With kind regards,
-Barbara
Seeing Savoy Brown at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater was definitely the highlight of the summer concert series. They played like it was their first concert and the results would make or break them. Kim looked like he was 20 again. The band was very tight and seemed like they were totally enjoying every minute while doing great extended versions of Louisiana Blues and Hell Bound Train. Thanks for the great show.
-Terry H.
Just saw them in Colorado Springs CO Friday night May 25th 2001. Let me tell you friends....I had seen them twice before back East 20+ years ago. This was the BEST Savoy Brown SHOW I have ever seen! Kim way "on top of his game" big
time! The new band is tight and I'd be first in line to buy a CD when they make one. If you get a chance to see them on this 2001 tour....DO NOT HESITATE! We saw the Who and Jeff Beck recently...Savoy Brown was WAY OUT in front of the Who...and Jeff Beck is a very good player but very distant from his fans. NOT SO with Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown. The more WE got into it - the MORE he cranked away on his Flying "V" Gibson. I was surprised to see Kim handling all the lead vocals as well as how much he used a wah-wah pedal and an echo effect as well as some new fuzz tones. I am soooo thankful I got the chance to see this band again...I wish them well. Too bad Kim never attained "Superstar" status as a guitar player. He certainly deserves it. Long live Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown! Wish I had the money to follow him all over the USA on this tour...simply CANNOT GET ENOUGH of his playing!
June 2, Venetian Albany, Oregon
Hey,I saw them earlier tonight. The show rocked! That is all Ican say. as this was some of the best guitar work that I have heard in years!!!! I got to talk with the band members as they mingled most of the night. They played Hell Bound Train, Wang Dang Doodle, Tell Mama, and a several new songs that were most excellent!
-I jack
Savoy rocks
I saw Savoy Brown 22 years ago in Stuttgart West Germany.. It was a two day festival attended by 35,000 people...I saw them Saturday night at the Venetian Theater in Albany Oregon..There were 200 people at the most..The band was tight, and Kim Simmonds is still a Guitar God.. It was a great show, and a great venue...If you ever get a chance to see a show at the Venitian, you should take advantage..
June 2001
... we saw the show in CT.....the kickoff show...and of the last eight plus years of seeing Kim and the boys it was by far and away the standout.
Keep it up!
Thanks much
