I've gone back to my Les Paul that seems to cover all the ground that I need from a guitar be it Jazz licks, down home blues stuff or high voltage rock leads.
I still like the light strings that I used in the 60's. In fact, back then, we had to use banjo strings for the top end because we couldn't get light enough strings to bend for that perfect blues sound. In the 70's I started to use heavier strings in order to improve the sound but I've come to realize that no string gauge will do the work for you...it comes from inside.
I keep the whole equipment thing as simple as possible.
I realized a long time ago that to compete with musicians that can really use those extra sounds from on stage production (Jimi Hendrix etc) was only going to make me an also ran so I decided to stay with a more pure approach on stage so as to find my own "voice" and make my own mark.
